Mythology

We had the pleasure of going to see The Wiggles in concert on Friday (21-March), and I'm sure Jan will give a full report (someday...). I took Anais down to see our seats while Mom stood in line at the souvenir stand (hey, gotta have something from your first concert - ultimately a Captain Feathersword doll and hat). On our way back up the steps, we encountered a mother with kids carrying two roses. Each rose had its stem bundled up in a baggie with water (sort of like you'd expect a carnival goldfish). It seemed somehow wrong to me (not unlike my idea to throw diapers - clean only - at the stage).

The longer I contemplated it, the more wrong it seemed to have your kids throw flowers at The Wiggles, no matter how good they were. It just wouldn't be appropriate for a 2-year-old to date a Wiggle. Not even Jeff - who's clearly the cutest.

At any rate, I swallowed my concerns and upon parting with money for baubles, we took our seats. It was only after Janice explained that the roses were for Dorothy the Dinosaur that my concerns were assuaged. Apparently she's a rososaurus and loves to eat roses. Who knew...

The lesson is to learn the mythology before passing judgment.

Someday a Clotheshorse...

or how practicing the art of removing one's shirt can go horribly awry. She seemed content to wear the shirt over her head for another 15 minutes or so.

For the record, I considered covering her pot belly as well....

Remember

Just a reminder of what she used to look like. Isn't it amazing! Yesterday she ate her first peanut butter sandwich and said,"It's delicious!" What a doll.

From the Mouths of Babes (or Brats)

Anaïs has been blessed with many dolls and stuffed animals. Given the multitude of choices, she has named Homer "Daddy". Dragged around the house, "Daddy" is cooed over and shown off.

Apparently, the picture is "Daddy" working. Note that "Daddy" has trouble covering his stomach with his shirt, is unshaven, is balding, and most disturbingly is very, very yellow. Maybe it's time to get out of the basement a bit more often.

Our Little Crazy Hair Baby

Here are a few shots of Anais and her ever-growing hair. She is doing quite well. She loves her gym class and will start art this spring. She loves her father very much and wakes up every morning with the words, "Snuggle Daddy."

Imagine there's no Heaven (it's easy if you try)

One of the amazing things watching Anaïs grow up is being able to track her reasoning abilities as they grow. As an example, over the past month or so, she's been working on her imagination with different physical entities.

Stage 1: Having her "babies" do things. "Can your baby help put away the blocks?" Anaïs mashes her baby and the block together and dumps the block into the box.

Stage 2: Having Elmo pick things up. She took a page that had come out of a coloring book with Elmo on it and used it to pick things up, saying "Elmo ". Elmo was facing away from her and toward the object. (This might have been the most impressive phase, translating 2D into 3D).

Stage 3: Going around with a lion puppet on her hand having 'Lion' do things, such as draw on the chalkboard and have snack.

I'm sure it hasn't stopped here, but it's now beyond my limited abilities to figure out.

Cousins

Here is the princess with her cousing Owen and Hailey. We are very happy to have them up here. We saw them for the Superbowl and had a lovely time.
